The company mentions in the blog post that Studio Pierrot hasn't produced any Naruto-related content in roughly 6 years and 5 months, which probably adds to the delay and the need for extra time to perfect the program.

The Naruto anime made its debut on October 3, 2002, in Japan. The first episode of the anime, simply titled Naruto, covered Part 1 of the manga and ran until early 2007, at which point the plot included a time jump. The series' title would then change to Naruto: Shippuden and it would start covering Part 2 of the manga. In 2017, the show came to an end, and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations was launched in its place.

The show follows the main character's aspirations to take charge of the Village Hidden in the Leaves. Since its release, Naruto has gained enormous popularity and, along with One Piece and Bleach, has become one of Shonen Jump's renowned "Big Three" series of the mid-2000s.
